Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Bon Secours Community Hospital and St. Anthony Community Hospital Sign Long-term Contracts
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Bon Secours Community Hospital and St. Anthony Community Hospital have signed long-term contracts that will bring the hospitals into Horizon BCBSNJ’s network of participating hospitals as of June 1, 2009.

Both hospitals are located in New York just north of Sussex County, New Jersey, in Port Jervis (Bon Secours) and Warwick (St. Anthony). The two hospitals will provide Horizon BCBSNJ members living in that area with additional and convenient options for full acute care hospital services, including both maternity and emergency room services.

“We welcome St. Anthony Community Hospital and Bon Secours Community Hospital into our network of quality hospitals,” said Jim Albano, Vice President, Healthcare Services, Horizon BCBSNJ. “Having these hospitals join our network is especially good news for our members in Sussex County, who will have two more convenient choices for their health care needs.”

Recently, Newton Memorial Hospital unilaterally terminated its agreement with Horizon BCBSNJ, leaving our hospital network and leaving many Sussex County residents with fewer options for hospital care. The addition of Bon Secours and St. Anthony hospitals to Horizon BCBSNJ’s network will provide Sussex County members with new options for hospital services.

In recent months, Horizon BCBSNJ successfully negotiated agreements with Memorial Sloan Kettering Basking Ridge in New Jersey, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania Hospital System.
